Greensboro- Students at North Carolina A&T State University are all riled up for Valentines Day.
As expected from a day that celebrates love, many people are celebrating in various ways. Some are going out to eat, some are spending time with family, and some are going out and partying. Let’s ask a couple Aggies ourselves and see what they have going on for the Day of Love.
Elijah Gibbs, a student at North Carolona A&T State Unviersity, was asked what he has planned for Valentines Day. Elijah gave me a very broad erspective on what he has planned for the day.
He said, “I gotta work today;however, we probably going out tonight, after we go out we probably just gonna chill”. It looks like Elijah’s gonna have a good time with his partner today, even though he has to work.
That’s one thing that’s easy to forget about holiday’s while in school. Although it is Valentines Day it’s still Friday, so people still have to go to work, go to class, and handle their day by day activates.
According to Statista, Consumers in America spent approximately 18.2 billion U.S. dollars for Valentine’s Day in 2017, a figure which is expected to rise to around 27.4 billion dollars in 2020. The majority of Valentine’s Day sales are attributed to jewelry, followed by an evening out and clothing.
Many people still have to work, especially places like the mall, restaurants, and public parks and recreational venues. People spend more money on holidays, meaning someone must work.
Ben Hawkins, another North Carolina A&T State University student has already spent a hefty amount before the day even began. When asked how much has he spent on Valentines Day, he responded by saying, fifty-dollars. When asked why he retorted by saying, you want that person to feel special whether it’s a friend, partner, whoever.
A&T has their own way of spreading their Valentines Day cheer. All across campus you can find students dressing up, taking pictures, spreading love. Campus has amazing energy right now. As an Aggie, I would like to say stay safe, be mindful, and stay in high spirits. Have a Happy Valentines Day.
